Yes, E33 shills DID do that. Back in April and May we were told that E33 had "outperformed every Japanese RPG", and shills were specifically comparing it in an attempt to humiliate fans of series like Persona, SMT, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Trails, etc.

People were flouting around a misleading claim that "Clair Obscur has the highest player count ever for a JRPG on Steam!" (even though it is not a JRPG), implying they thought it must be a bigger success than games like Persona 5 ever were.

Now, just 4 months later, we see that this was not the case. The game benefitted from being the chosen "Flavor of the Month" back in April/May, but now has settled as merely a decently-successful WRPG, and FAR behind the success and sales statistics of the giants of the JRPG field like Persona 5.
