That was more of a retcon in a sense. It wouldn't be the first time an author has done it in a vanilla story that took a detour for NTR. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter who knocked her up. Unlike what the other anon said, the MC wasn't pimping her out after the fact. She flat out couldn't be satisfied with him and he was too broken to want to do her, so they both had to accept that she'd be fucking random dudes all the time. The bull just died or got killed off-screen during the time skip as a quick means to circle back. This story is one of the perfect cases of the author not knowing what he wanted. He clearly made the story to be vanilla and then his NTR fetish kicked in to turn it NTR, which is fine and welcomed. After that, he just wanted to quickly reroute it to whatever we got in the ending. This isn't a case of pointless milking though, just indecisive decisions.

Hori Hiroaki is another case, with similar impregnation retcon, despite pretty much confirming it. Pic related shows the author switching to an NTR route, even showing nerd villain setting a program that'll force the heroine to be impregnated, but then decides he wants to go vanilla again, so that's soft-retconned by forgetting it even happened later on.
