>College for them isn't partying and networking (although some get a little excited and will dye their hair) it's shit loads of studying, little free time, and joining their insane work culture.
Straight up talking out of your ass here anon. It's almost impossible to fail Jap college once you get into it because it makes the schools look bad if they fail students, it's not like America where they're more than happy to fail your ass and make you retake a bunch of courses so that they can tack on another 20k to your final student debt total.
However Japs take advantage of this (combine this with having no parent over their shoulder for the first time in their lives and no college entrance exams constantly looming to mentally torture them) and just spend their college years going full retard, partying all the time and literally fucking around until those 4 years are up and they join the workforce.
And btw the workforce doesn't give a shit about what your college grades are at all, they just look at the name of the college you went to which is why jap teenagers care so much about the college exams and then stop trying once they get in.

I grew up in Japan, and even if you don't want to take my anecdotal experiences as evidence, you can find a shitload of articles talking about how Jap college is a joke if you google it. There's a reason that the truly top tier students jump over to the UK or USA if they want to actually further their education.
