CNN quoted Rikishi as saying the initial confrontation between Raja and the wrestler was supposed to be a work to build up hype and social media interest in a possible match down the line since Raja recently expressed interest in becoming a wrestler and had started training to be a wrestler. The beer can he hit Raja with was gimmicked not to hurt or cause injury, but apparently there was some sort of miscommunication and Raja didn't realize it was part of the angle. The two shook hands and everything seemed to be cool between them, Rikishi planned for them to do a worked shoot angle during the match. Hence why the wrestler didn't resist Raja lifting him prior to the slam, even wrapped his arms around Raja during the lift to steady the lift, anticipating a safe worked slam to the canvas.
Raja evidently got hot headed, went into business for himself and straight up tried to murder the wrestler, who was just expecting to be safely slammed to the mat and hit with some worked punches, not live rounds and full on elbow strikes.
