The answer was positivity guys.

The plasma from the mercury engine creates a static field big enough to not only lift the craft, but manifest your fears too. If you're not careful, a field that big could probably give you cancer, radiation sickness or summon a demon to fuck with you. So you have to center your thoughts and not always think the world is out to get you to properly even be near one.
