Skurka’s beans and rice are legendary. I’ve taken them on every trip since learning about them years ago. He’s got all of these crazy hiking firsts (the Yukon Expedition you mentioned, and the Great Western Loop) and he’s the world’s most famous bean chef.

No cook is usually miserable, but not always. I’ll stick to my fancy feast stove though.
