Nah, at least in our worst story bits there's progress.
Like imagine if whole quest consisted of Phaethon idk, waking up, picking up food and doing to codemonkey some stuff for some small firm, with vague remarks that this all is going to reveal some mystery of Ye Chungus. All of that is implemented with dialogue choices.
You do it for several days, same shit, which in game time counts as several hours.
Then Shifu comes to you and says there's no mystery about Ye Chungus it was all made up by Horseman, and also check out this cool important sword Shifu captured from Exaltists, that can save Ye Chungus from corruption. That sword will never appear in the plot again.
