nobody lives in historical dubrovnik because of how profitable it is but many people in split still do live in diocletians palace. however 95% of them live in commieblocks. this is because these parts of the world rely solely on tourism.

but in prague, vienna, etc people still live in the historical city centres. not to mention every small town in europe you never heard of.
