There are 116 million people living under third world conditions, scorching heat, all packed into this thin vein around the Nile. Most of the green part are just fields, so the actually populated area is even thinner. They have water issues. They depend on upstream countries that can dam up the Nile. They aren't rich in petroleum and natural gas like other MENA countries. They literally buy natural gas from Israel. They have a trade deficit and depend on gibs from the IMF, US, Arab countries, and expats who send back money to family. If you are born here outside the upper class, you are fucked for life unless you marry into the upper class, or you are a one-in-a-million talent and actually get the chance to manifest that talent.

There's so much verdant fertile farmland here. Just look at a map of Egypt it's all a beautiful fecund green as far as the eye can see. I really don't know what they mean when they say "Urban crowding" on the media, there's plenty of space for everyone here.
