The "$15 indie game sold at $60-$90" thing is fairly recent. Up until recently, their games still had SOME budget. Several of their best titles came out after Nep VII, like Mary Skelter and Death end re;Quest. The decline and "indiefication" of their games speaks to me of a lack of funds for a budget. In other words, Compa is likely very, very poor these days, the money from Neptunia's heyday having run dry after the PS4 era, and Calamity Angels looking like a scrapped mobile phone game really drives this home. It really makes me worry what the next mainline is going to look like, because it's going to need to wow people to win the audience back, but judging by their recent games, Compile Heart does not have the funds for any major leap in presentation. Unless they are diverting everything to the mainline, but still...

Speaking as an enthusiast of their games, you can draw a hard line between their pre-Sonypocalypse output and their post-Sonypocalypse output starting from 2020 with Arc of Alchemist being censored across platforms instead of just the PS version. Genkai Tokki which had up to that point been getting games at a rate of roughly one every year and a half just abruptly stopped after Castle Panzers, and Mary Skelter soon followed, the last entry Finale showing signs of being rushed and of course censored for Snoy's guidelines. In spite of its flaws, that was probably the last decent game they made.
