Hot Take - I Don't Think Rerir Should Be Playable

I think a LOT of Fans are Crazy. I get it, he's Badass, he's Hot, he's even Tragic. But you know what else he is? A Vile Child-Murdering MONSTER. But hear me out, if that's not enough to convince you, I'll spell it out in more detail as to WHY I think he shouldn't be Playable.

Rerir's Moral Weight vs the Current Playable Roster's:

In Genshin Impact specifically, the Playable Roster represents more than just Characters you “like.” It represents the Characters you invite into your team, your story, your space. Characters who are, at some level, meant to be empathized with, trusted, and celebrated through Fun-Loving Events, Festivals, and Slice-of-Life Hangouts or Bonding. Even morally grey figures like Tartaglia or Scaramouche ultimately show restraint, compassion, or redeemable humanity. Their sins are limited, personal, or ideological — not mass atrocities.

Rerir, by contrast, committed GENOCIDAL acts. Not mistakes of passion, but the DELIBERATE SLAUGHTER of an entire BLOODLINE of children and innocents, driven by blind loyalty. That puts him FARRR beyond being morally “grey.” He’s literally the jet black on the moral spectrum. Including him as a Playable Character would risk trivializing those actions, especially in a Game that celebrates its Characters through light-hearted Events and Friendship Systems or Writing.

2. The "Hot" Villain Paradox:

The Fandom LOVES to conflate aesthetic appeal with moral worth. People often romanticize Villains, even OUTSIDE of Entertainment (it'll Serial Killers). Not because they condone their actions, but because charisma and in this case - visual design blur emotional lines. However, when a Story like Genshin's thrives on emotional sincerity and worldbuilding, turning a mass murderer into a gacha collectible just because he’s attractive or tragic cheapens both the Story and the Theme of consequence, especially with as heavy as Rerir has it.
