The initial idea of Part One (if you've already read the plot) is to show us everything that happens in Gardenview, but from an external perspective, embodied by Liam James, that is, a man who, in his eagerness to remodel the place and turn it into a hotel, ends up getting involved in everything that is Dandy's world, the Toons, and especially the Twisteds and the horrors that lurk below.
The idea is that he knows nothing about this, and as the story progresses, he discovers and unravels the history of Gardenview, Dandy's complot, and what really happened in Gardenview.

All the while, he begins to develop a father-daughter relationship with Connie, since Connie, in her own way, reminds him of his niece Samantha, the closest thing to a daughter he had before going to the war.

Part 2 introduces us to more elements of the Ex-workers.
