Shortly after posting this I remembered that I have had Yokai Hunters Society on the shelf for ages and never got around to it.

A read through and it's pretty great for what I wanted. 2d6 + relevant Path (attribute) + item bonus if applicable vs difficulty, default of 10. Combat is the same except it's vs an opposing enemy roll + their level. Damage is the difference between the rolls.

It has something called the Curse Resistance tracker where you can roll a d8 with your 2d6, dropping your Curse Resistance if the d8 is higher than your current Resistance. Run out and every roll is at a Disadvantage (3d6, drop highest) until you can be cleansed.
