as someone who owns a gaming laptop, deck, and a PC. i think deck is not really necessary.

i guess if you will be on a long flight/ bus ride then maybe deck makes more sense. but all in all, a laptop is just way more practical. people exaggerate how portable the deck really is. it will take up a good chunk of your backpack/luggage.
