The first Gundam had better animation than Zeta. You really feel the weight and impact of every attack. Mobile suits actually felt like two heavy metal objects hitting each other. Zeta is so soulless in comparison.

Just watch the original Mobile Suit Gundam trilogy for the first time. I've only seen a few Gundam bits and pieces before (including like half of Unicorn), but obviously I know about parts of it via general cultural osmosis.

>I was ready to dislike Char just due to how popular he is, but he is a great character and I can see why everyone loves him
>I grew to like the Zeon suits after not liking them just seeing them in images/gunpla (I think seeing them in motion really helped)
>The Newtype stuff was way more at the forefront than I thought it would be (I assumed it was power crept in following series, like the Force in Star Wars)
