Threadly fun astronomy facts:
The middle "star" of Orion's sword, the vertically aligned stars below the easily noticeable 3 stars in a straight line that make up Orion's belt, in the constellation Orion (duh) isn't actually a star. It's the Orion Nebula, which is made of interstellar gas and dust, and illuminated by a dense star-formation region called the Trapezium Cluster. You can spot faint nebulosity with the naked eye, seeing it as a "fuzzy star", but starting with binoculars you can start seeing it as a proper object with discernable angular diameter instead of a simple "dot" of light like the other stars.
