I'm assuming your referring to the part of Sentinel where the two FAZZs exchange shots with the four Xeku-Eins. In that part they say "Crypt's FAZZ aimed and fired its Hyper Mega Cannon. A clear blue light gushed from the muzzle, becoming a solid beam of light traveling at an incredible speed, getting absorbed into the pitch-black darkness. One second, two seconds, three seconds... 'Damn it, I missed!' " and "However, even in this era, combat on the order of tens of thousands of kilometers was still not assured.". From these 2 passages we can assume 2 things, one that the travel time for the FAZZ's cannon shots between the it and the Xeku-Eins take at least 3 seconds and two the FAZZ and Xeku-Eins are atleast 10,000 km apart.

if we go on the low end of things and assume that the two groups of suits are only 10,000 km apart (remember the battle is described as happening tens of thousands of kilometers apart not just ten thousand km) and that beams take 3 seconds to cross that distance we are looking at 3,333,333.333 m/s for the minimum speed for the FAZZ's beam cannon shots. If we compare that speed to the speed of light (299,792,458 m/s) we find that the FAZZ's beam cannon shots travel at around 1% light speed.

TLDR, beam weapon speeds are stupid fast and not all slow like you were implying

My math:

Finding FAZZ beam cannon speed
10,000 km / 3 sec = 3,333.333333 km/s
convert to m/s by multiplying by 1,000
3,333.333333 km/s * 1000 = 3,333,333.333 m/s
converting to % lightspeed
( 3,333,333.333 m/s / 299,792,458 m/s (the speed of light) ) * 100 = 1.111880317 % lightspeed
