As someone who has long bangs that reach down even further than that, hair isn't much of a visual obstruction as you think it is. It's less a curtain and more of a bunch of strands that have a lot of gaps between them, looking from the inside out. From the outside looking in, it looks a lot more obstructive than it actually is.
