Doesn't matter really, as long as pharma gets some dough. Most of the times they do both things (maim and kill), again because nobody cares about the health of the patient and everyone is criminally incompetent at all levels, so that's just bound to happen I guess.

Why shouldn't it? Same principle applies. Insurance has a hard time getting out of paying when protocol is followed. State pays pretty much automatically in europe. The state is definitely in on it where I worked in EU, so the conflict of interest is gigantic - the same people that should decide on what's safe to use are either directly or indirectly bankrolled by the people that make the drugs
