Already got ideas in the works now, during whatever schism would have split the 40k Chorfs and Votann, 95% of the ironkin looked at the conflict and thought "Nah, Votann are better" and sided with them. This causes a deep grudge to be formed when the Chorfs get their asses kicked, and while they're licking their wounds a bunch of them take the 5% that followed them, and enslave them, forcing them into what amounts to an air-gapped dungeon cell where they forcibly copy-paste their personality, then shave off the excess bits and use the resulting construct.
The only problem with this would be the 'shaving and sculpting' part. As the millennia have passed the tricks and complexity of the entrapped AI have only gotten worse. If the chorf programmers miss even a small element of the code it could cause whole squads or armies of the copy-pasted robots to go rogue. So they take their time scraping through everything, and as the millennia have wore on the time taken to 'sculpt' this new personality takes longer and longer and longer, to the point that sometimes it'll take centuries just to make sure they're clear.
This would mean that while the earlier copies would be less precise, as the chorfs wouldn't have dialled in the programming, they were far less prone to rebellion as the enslaved ironkin would have still been preoccupied by whatever digital torture method they were using. As time has gone on however, less and less of these 'copies' have been created as the time taken between getting them ready gets longer, and the end result is guaranteed to have a wierd tick, or potentially a lethal bug hidden in the code somewhere as the ironkin have gotten infinitely better at hiding their tricks, hoping to one day free themselves.
