Not him but I migrated from video games to bar trivia and pinball a few years ago. It isn't necessarily completely fulfilling but I have multiple high scores on pins around my city and my team has also won the quarterly trivia tournament a couple of times. In the end I realized it wasn't video games I actually enjoyed, it was just being competitive and winning. I've recently taken up darts and axe throwing as well for similar reasons but I'm not good at them yet. I will be.
People just buy and swap their own pinball machines these days, those being the only arcade machines that are still relevant. While they take a lot of plays to pay themselves off, they hold value and are easily traded.

Other than that, arcade cabinets are cheap as fuck and now have infinite games.
