If you were 10 out of 10 confident, you must have been really shocked by the reception.

Did nobody outside of friends and family test the game during development? Any demo? Prototypes? Anybody who loves to speedrun Minecraft like you, for example?

Either way, even if you know your audience well, without marketing, even if the game was flawless you would have had trouble get return on investment.
