To be fair the nose of the plane is a separate part thats made out of fiberglass or plastic because its where the radar is kept and it needs to be made of a material that wont interfere with the microwaves the radar sends out.

But no, planes are not sturdy objects. They need to be light as possible in order to fly. The wings are also very lightweight and fragile.

There we a bunch of cameras on the roof and needle on top of WTC 1 and 2. They would've had the best view of the planes hitting the tower. But that footage has never been released. Odd. Just like they wont release the footage of a 747 striking the Pentagon, even though that building is surrounded by a ton of cameras too.
