Neither of them moved as her breathing evened out, slowly but surely. Maria slowly loosened her grip and detached her hand from his shirt completely.

Doppio mourned the contact for all but a second before she returned, her hand raised up to hold his own as it remained still on her face.

The fear had melted away, replaced with desire and resolution so strong it was nearly staggering.

Emotion glowing brightly, even in the dark. Always so lovely, despite it all. Did she even know? Did she realize how strong she was, how gorgeous she looked when she was steeling herself like this?

Even if it was wrong — he knew it was, he knew the lines that needed to be drawn, regardless of how well he heeded them — he wanted to be there for her, take even a fraction of that pain and absorb it into himself.

This was it for him, wasn’t it? He could shake her off easily if he tried. Reclaim some semblence of the self control he once proudly held, not let himself get dragged deeper down despite every cell in his body crying out to give in.

But then there she was, desperate, strong eyes, soft hands, and slightly parted lips.

Glorious. She was a divine being given form — awe-inspiring and all-encompasing.

So, when she kissed him, he didn’t even try to resist. He just closed his eyes and savored it —- drank her in like ambrosia, worshipped her like a goddess deserved to be.

Down down down.

He fell into her fully. Arms around her frame, whispering assurances and sweet honeyed adoration into her ear as his teeth closed in against her skin.

“Mine.”

He reveled in the small sounds he would draw out of her — gasps and whimpers delicious enough to sustain him for weeks.

Why would he ever need food again when she tasted twice as sweet?

He left marks over her pale skin, brilliant shades of pink and red and violet. Posessiveness given form.

“Yours.”
Doppio loved Maria like it was the most natural thing in the world. Resistance was futile when fate was the one weaving the red strings, after all.
