Heh, that's what Gege said in JJK, yes. Sukuna's mother was starving (famines were common in the Heian era), so he instinctively ate his twin in the womb to survive. This was considered a sin, a cause of bad karma, and he was born deformed ("I was a creepy kid"), basically two bodies fused together to represent his act. Somehow he survived, but was always rejected for obvious reasons, and so turned his pain and hunger for love into violence and hatred, becoming the strongest sorcerer in Japan. A minimal backstory with roots in Buddhism, but simple and effective enough, especially because it's plausible (a deformed kid will set fire to the whole village to feel warmth).

Now, though, Gege is basically saying that Sukuna was never a cursed child. His weird looks aren't caused by his "curse" and Buddhist themes, but by the influence of aliens. He actually looks like a deformed version of Malu and his alien peers, with cancerous eyes that grew in the wrong places, too many arms, but also the same tattoos. And cursed techniques aren't tied to Buddhism and Shintoism and centuries of studies and clan history anymore, but are simply ayy lmao magic that Malu and his friends see as something as simple as breathing.

Gege is throwing everything he built out of the window.
