Ukraine must become a “steel porcupine” no attacker can digest — Ursula von der Leyen

During her joint press-conference with President Zelenskyy in Brussels ahead of the meeting with President Trump tomorrow,

Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that:
◾Ukraine decided its own destiny but it can always count on Europe.
◾Ukraine's international borders cannot be changed by force. These decisions are to be made by Ukraine alone.
◾Tomorrow, Ukraine will decide its fate.
◾The 19th sanctions package will be adopted in September.
◾Ukraine must not have restrictions regarding its armed forces.
◾The EU and the Coalition of the Willing are ready to make their contribution into the security guarantees for Ukraine. They will be something like the 5th article of NATO.

President Zelenskyy emphasized that:
◾Putin wasn't able to capture Donbas in 12 years.
◾A ceasefire first, then work on the final peace agreement will take place.
◾Real negotiations can start where the current frontline is.
◾A strong army is the best security guarantee.
◾Territorial issues must only be discussed during a trilateral meeting.
