the thought is that the solar system bobs up and down through a high density region of a galactic spiral arm and when its inside the higher density region its like being in the high current wire of an electric conductor. basically the sun gets turbo charged and does chaotic shit like spew hot plasma sheets all over the solar system.

a sort of parallel theory is in this high density region the solar system travels through a dust cloud and the sun literally gets coated in a layer of dust that ends up getting shed in a violent event like a mini nova. this is more crackpot using biblical references about how the sun dissappears for like three days or whatever. its kind of stupid because the earth would be also covered in thousands of feet of dust. its not as good of a theory as electric current spiral arms
