Bmw is hostile toward longer term maintenance and they went off the deep end in 2020 (literally one shop that I know of in the world has cracked the ECU, and you have to physically send it to them to flash before you can adjust anything.) Even if you don't plan to tune it, that and heated seat subscriptions pretty much sums up the nuBMW ethos. Plus, I think by 2020 they already axed the manual in the 340i so there are literally none I'd want to buy anyway.
I don't know much about Toyotas other than my family never had the luck with them others claim to, and even then it was shitbox Tercels and Corollas so their upmarket offerings are more outside of my wheelhouse.
After wanting a newer sedan for my daily, and shopping for a couple years... I'm still borrowing my wife's f150 because there's a falling home in this market, and if anything does tick the boxes it's far too expensive for what it is.
