I agree. But the problem is, balancing is basically forbidden in gacha games. Nobody would accept characters becoming weaker. And there is no incentive for older characters to be useful, from their perspective.
We can only hope it this rate of powercreep doesn't get worse. I mean, they're already adding another tier of difficulty to raids, even though the majority of players can't even do/don't bother to do Insane.

You still need support students in order to do big booms, even with Fes units. Characters like NY Fuuka, NY Kayoko, Himari, Kisaki, Ako are absolutely essential. And then you have healers of all kinds.
