Not true. By the PS2 era, game developments were moving past 3 years. By the end of the PS3 era, they were heading past 4 years. And consoles weren't cheap. They were expensive as launch. They got cheaper as time went on, but they started off expensive. And adoption wasn't lightning fast. Especially for the PS3. On the contrary, the Switch 2, PS5 and PS4 all sold very well at launch.
