Reason why everything follows BTC movements is mainly due to almost every coin having a BTC pair with solid volume e.g. ETH/BTC, DOGE/BTC etc. so as soon as BTC/USD(T) moves, arbitrage bots start buying the altcoin on either the usdt pair and selling on the BTC pair and instantly turning the BTC back into USD (or vice versa) for a minimal profit but close to zero risk which leads to a "correct" price but invariably links all altcoins to BTC no matter what (given that they have decent enough volume for such arbitrage to be profitable without risk of slippage).

If you want to get a better picture of the trading pair in general or trade the moves of a specific coin and not "BTC with varying amounts of leverage but a different ticker" then I can highly recommend swapping to EXAMPLE/BTC pairs and trade in satoshis instead of USDT.
