>I think the craziest thing that happened in western democracies is that we let rich people go through recessions without forcing them to surrender all of their fortunes to float the lower classes until the economy recovers. Billionaires and whatnot should be seeing recessions as something that will erase 98% of their fortune and thus do everything they can to avoid them or limit their impacts. Instead they see a recession and lick their lips at all the money they are about to make. It is genuinely insane we let it come to this.
