The existence of rounded ears has been a plot point multiple times. WW Ganondorf specifically ordered his minions to search for blonde girls with pointy ears, and TP Link is the only person with pointy ears in all of Ordona Village (implied to be because he moved there from neighbouring Hyrule, made explicit in the manga retelling)
