Yesavage and Scherzer have pitched roughly the same amount of innings this year, it's just that Yesavage ended the season fully rested and with really good chase and K% numbers. He showed that off against the Yankees and Mariners, but his control can falter. Scherzer finished the regular season cut from of the rotation and struggling. It's not ideal, but honestly Yesavage gets the nod for just stepping up when the team needed him most. I wouldn't mind if they gave Scherzer Game 3 over Bieber though.
