Versatility's modifier is only 2500 though.
This means that your % increases much quicker in the beginning and tapers off with an upper limit of 100% at infinity. Now, the percentages aren't everything because many classes have caveats to how the displayed numbers work, for instance, with wind knight, 25% mastery actually means 16% wind elemental damage. There's two layers of obfuscation to the actual impact of the stat numbers.
There is a soft cap at 100%, but it's a pretty smooth transition to there. You really just need to take a look at your numbers to decide for yourself which stat is extra valuable for your class, which is overinflated and which is underinflated. Versatility is a weak modifier, but it scales very quickly when underutilized which makes it a better choice than better stats that are overinflated.
