Honestly the idea of this just sounds like a great way to contextualize just how slaves often act in our own world. Slavery world would be different obviously, but just how often slaves will hold onto lines they believed they crossed with other people, real or imagined, it makes sense that having a belief that those sins will bind them into servitude in the next life could help steel their chaotic minds for the life that they truly deserve.

Paternalism as part of a still brutal slavery relationship will always come through in my thoughts I suppose.
