>Is this how poor people think?
nta but I gotta chime in
nepotism IS a thing, yes, but if you're out of the circlejerk and are looking for a job for more than 6 months after graduation or losing your last job, you better start doing community work.
>it shows you're actually doing something and not sitting on your ass like a lazy fuck
yes, we both know you've been job seeking and that looking for jobs can be a total pain in the ass and a job on itself. However fucking corpos do not care, they need proof you're someone willing to put on work and someone proactive that doesn't wait for shit to come out in a silver plate and doing community work is a way to tell them you're a productive person that doesn't sit on his ass and works for free when there's nothing else to do. someone "productive"
>good references
we don't want your mom, your dad, your landlord, your coworker or your teacher. The only references that are valid are your immediate boss, his boss and up. The fresher the reference, as in no older than 3 months old, the better. Doing community work is a piss easy way to meet this requirement as you simply use your immediate boss as a reference.
>b-but why my boss and not my mom?
because your boss will tell me if you're a shit worker that comes out late and can;t do shit under pressure or a person that actually comes on time, never calls in sick and is willing to stay up overtime when needed. simple as.
