Trump didnt invade Venezuela way back then, with the entire 5th fleet as he was very vocal.

Because it would have triggered way earlier the war in Ukraine, as Russia wouldn't have a reason to contain.

While Russia and Venezuela arent in the best terms. Trump invading Venezuela would destroy the negotiations with Putin/Zelenskyy
So I'd say Trump is pressuring Putin to negotiate, if he doesnt do shit he will invade Venezuela as punishment.
That is what makes most sense with an individual like Trump, that acts like a schizo 90% of the time so people dont know what he wants.
