I thought I'd try something different and not make a medieval fantasy story, but a setting closer to 1900s, where mages are developing early computers and shit. I thought it'd be fun to examine this "technology will steal our jobs"-theme from wizards' point of view.
But now that I'm actually writing it, it feels like I'm just overwhelming readers with an endless flood of new information. There's not only a wholeass magic system to introduce and flesh out, but also the technological systems, and how they play together, and then the characters and their circumstances on top of that. Only an absolute autist would read all this techno-babble.
I sure wish some AI could tell me outright if an idea is worth trying at all, or if I shouldn't just jump off a bridge before wasting my time.
