Not wanting to talk about personal life costing me jobs?
A while ago I got in to an incident that got me fired and ever since then I've decided to never bond with coworkers or bosses. I've been working at the same job for a few years now and have been looking for a new job. Quite a few of my interviewers though seem really offended and put off when I tell them that I don't like discussing my personal life. I'm a bit worried it's costing me new job opportunities, but after what happened I don't ever want to get connected with coworkers on a personal level in the slightest. Even at my current job despite me literally saying nothing, not getting involved in any "bonding" activities, and just being blunt that I don't talk about my life outside of work most people still like me, but I guess I've also been there long enough for them to be used to me. Still, is it bad when I tell a interviewer that I don't want to share what I do outside of work?
