It's been decades I've read it and I'm still wondering what was the point of the HF route.
Fate and UBW I get completely, they are coming of age romances about a kid and girl king arthur realizing their worldviews are incorrect despite their ideals being filled with goodwill. Basically they cannot go against fate but still can act against evil. Fate being more centered on saber and Ubw exclusively on shirou.
HF is about the most cliché osana najimi ever created, she was irrelevant apart from making food in the other 2 routes but here she gets possessed by some weird black tentacle monster that is a consequence of her being raped by worms and her brother I guess?
She becomes an edgelord then possess and kills everyone up until her sister and bf convince her to stop, then shirou beats kirei, destroys the grail, dies but actually no and the end.
I get what happens but I dont get "why" it happens. The whole grail possession and zouken shit feel just uninteresting. If the appeal of Fate is the servant, proven by the fact servants have been the center part of every single spin off this IP had for 20 years, then why people even like this route which kills all servant unceremoniously and features 2 masters as final bosses? Is is just ror Shirou being more badass than the other routes?
Genuinely I want to know.
