/pol/ - Question for the Left on Israel:
Anonymous United States No.513948449
Question for the Left on Israel:
Has the genocide in Gaza make you rethink any of your broader political priors??
Feel free to Andre with whatever comes to mind there one specific angle I am most interested in:
The state of Israel was not founded by rightwingers. The Jewish zionists themselves were ethno nationalists but the US government that founded Israel was one of the most leftwing administrations in U.S. history and its founding was sold to the American public on liberal terms.
>”Oh the poor Jews they’ve been oppressed for so long”
>”Come let’s use the power of the state to give them a country of their own.”
Ect.
I guess I’m just curious if this whole experience has made you rethink the legitimacy of that argument specifically as it applies to things like affirmative action and reparations.
It seems that when you seek to privilege a previously oppressed people you end up just making them new oppressors in the long run.
Curious what your thoughts are though (assuming any libs actually browse pol lol)
