"Hey, you guys need all the help you can get."
"I- Look, thanks man." The nurse decides to just accept what they can get. "See you around. We'll check with ya later."
You nod, telling them to have the best day they can given their circumstance.
>Due to managing to wrangle your way through HR, you'll get a choice on what reward to obtain from MEDBAY after your shift's done.
With the good news delivered, you step out of MEDBAY. You take a moment to think on where you should go next. You want to talk to Ashton just to calm your nerves and to figure out what's up with her but, no, you have something else you wanna do first.
You turn your brain off. You let your legs take you where they feel like going. Sometimes, after finishing your shift back at the firm, you'd do this instead of taking the bus. Just to get your mind off of everything. One schizophrenic homeless lady said you were 'letting the City guide you' but really?
You just want to stumble across something that isn't some humdrum, routine thing you see day after day.
The lights flicker and blur as you wander through the endless, shifting maze of grey walls and fluorescent lights. Night and day doesn't matter in a place like this. Who knows how long you're going to keep track of the days passing by?
>12!
BANG!
You're immediately snapped out of your stupor. The gunshot echoes through the hallway until it blurs into an indistinct, ringing mess.
BANG!
Another thunderous crack echoes through the hallway. This time, you have a better idea on where it's coming from. The hallway you're in splits off into three paths and it seems to be coming straight ahead. You shouldn't be running over there but your curiosity overwhelms you.
You rush down the hallway, pulling out your pocket knife just in case this gets serious. An indistinct voice gibbers out something resembling a yell to whatever they're shooting at. A low, heavy groan is all you hear in response.
You swerve around one of the corners to see what's going on.
https://youtu.be/nK2zF_LVcuY - WHAT IS THAT?
Colt has his back pressed against the wall right by the corner you just turned around. His hand are trembling and shaking, barely able to hold onto the bolt action rifle in his hands. Acrid smoke leaks out of the freshly fired gun.
A deep, indelible gash runs across the side of his chest. Deep crimson spills out of the wound and down his labcoat and shirt. It's almost enough to overwhelm the stench of ash and sweat lingering around him.
You hesitantly turn around to see what he's aiming at.
A humanoid figure stands only about ten feet away from the both of you. The only thing keeping its decency is a pair of tattered, gunk-stained boxers clinging to its skin. Its skin is a glimmering black that's like freshly spilled pen ink. Its left arm has been replaced with a large, jagged sharp claw that is dripping fresh crimson blood.
You instinctually know that thing USED to be human.
