Cregger said he didn't write a lot of deliberate jokes in the movie and he's surprised people found the movie funny. Most apparent one he could think of was Brolin waking up from the dream. Which I thought was weird cause my theater was crying of laughter throughout the movie, even on parts that were supposed to be scary like the exorcist 3 door scene homage. The camera cuts were just so comedic, like this scene webm related, the parents don't actually look terrifying. I think other directors could do a better job at instilling you with dread in a scene like this but it comes off as funny.
