Germans who lived through the Weimar period remembers it fondly as a golden era for arts and culture. It's also widely regarded as a miracle of democracy during some of humanity's darkest periods. The economic troubles peaked during the early 1920s, and the economy was already well on its way to recovery before the Nazis came into power.
By the early 1930s things were vastly improving, the Nazis inherited a booming economy and then proceeded to run it into the ground. After the Nazis came to power the real wages of workers went down while working hours increased. Nazis effectively destroyed unions across Germany. They established a work force based on fear and intimidation that helped corporations reduce labor costs and increase profit. Management salaries and dividend payouts both rose dramatically. Nazism only benefited the rich while the average people were worse off.
Germany was on the verge of bankruptcy within a few years of Nazis seizing power. That's why Hitler had to start WW2 to invade other countries and steal their resources. As the war went on the German economy was basically North Korea tier and their people barely even had food to eat. Their factories ran on literal slave labor from the concentration camps. They even resorted to stealing wedding rings and pulling out the teeth of Holocaust victims to steal what little gold was inside.
