It seems like a political show. No one who lives in DC is taking it seriously as a policy. The types of crimes we have here are no different than you will find in any other mid to large city.
Deployment of national guard to DC is not going to fix anything, any more than it would in any other city. People have been taking pictures of the deployment so far, and it's hilarious. There were some U.S. Border Patrol agents just standing around Chinatown last night, not doing anything.

Most of the very sketchy neighborhoods are east of the Anacostia river. 75-85% of the rest of the city, specially NW, is fine to live in.
