It makes sense if you think back to what happens in episode 1 when Ling gets an auto boost for his own determination. Yang never believed in himself and maybe... Nice died when he stopped believing in himself.

But personally, I don't think Nice is dead. First of all, it's morally ambiguous that X had any role in that suicide. I'd like to hope X isn't that kind of character. Secondly, I like to think that all 11 protagonists can have a moment of redemption against those who are clearly the show's true villains.
