There's a lot of confusion on the board, so let's cut through the crap.
The original SEGA was called the "SEGA System", although some other variants were used. These are:
"Sega Video Game System"
"SEGA Super System"
"SEGA FROM TONKA"
"The Best Video Game System" (When you said "best system" everyone knew you meant Sega.)

Additionally:
Atari was called "Atari Video Computer System" or "Atari VCS".
PlayStation was called "SONY PlayStation" or "PlayStation".

Nintendo was called "Control Deck" or ROB something. Everyone was confused by the robot.

The bottom left shows what is labeled "SEGA Base System", notice a certain word is absent.
The bottom right shows "SEGA SegaScope 3D System", and again that certain word is conspicuously missing.
The ratty looking box at the bottom center shows, finally, a "SEGA Master System" which is a sub-category SEGA System bundle.

The console is called SEGA System, or SEGA Video Game System.
