Mary is a comfort maid with a troubled past. After gracefully handling an incident involving a handsy nobleman - in which she came out on top, in multiple respects - Mary's duties expanded. Given Liubos' artifact - a peridot necklace which is imbued with the blessings of the fertility goddess - Mary was converted from a simple maid to a comfort maid, inculcating her in the political chessboard of her master's games to ingratiate herself with visiting nobleman and leverage her intelligence, empathy, and tact.

The conflict between her political, viscerally intimate duties and the wishes of the goddess Liubos are masked by her strict professionalism in all things - but underneath her carefully constructed demeanor is a woman who desperately wants to find meaningful connection. And nothing would please Liubos more, or grant Mary a larger piece of Liubos' gifts to wield and broaden her agency.
