Right that's what's more frustrating. Lois gatekeeping punk like this opens up the conversation to what exactly is punk to her, inviting further gatekeeping that invites further gatekeeping until you realize that angle is a dumb conversation.
So the "what is punk" is like "what is gangster" where punk and gangster are things you can be but are reduced to vibes, flavors of anti-establishment rebellion if you'd like. But now, after we're exhausted with trying to define punk, we are only half way there because if punk needs an establishment to be contrary to, something to stand up to... what's the establishment?
